Mitch Polley, furniture designer and maker, working in his South West London workshop where he designs and makes contemporary furniture to order, by hand.

I’m Mitch Polley - a furniture designer and maker based in South West London.

I create contemporary fine furniture that’s thoughtfully designed and built to last, using responsibly sourced hardwoods. Each piece is crafted with care, with an emphasis on clean lines, balanced proportions, and the natural beauty of the wood.

Before starting this journey, I spent 17 years working in the film industry as a Prop Maker and Carpenter. I’ve always loved making things, but it was during that time that I discovered a real passion for woodworking - particularly working with solid hardwoods.

Over the years, I built a huge variety of things for film sets, but many were made from unsustainable materials and were only ever meant to last a few minutes on screen. Eventually, I realised I wanted to create work that had lasting purpose - pieces that would live on in people’s homes, not end up in landfill.

Sustainability is important to me. Wood is one of the most renewable and beautiful materials we have and when used well, it has the potential to last for generations.

What drives me now is the idea of making pieces that aren’t just functional and visually compelling, but that become meaningful parts of people’s lives. Things that are used, appreciated, and passed down.
